Service: A Celebration of Life Memorial will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459.

Jon Alexander Bloyd was born on June 29, 1939 in Moundsville, West Virginia to Jon G. and Rosemary Bloyd. He passed away in Dayton, Ohio on February 1, 2022 after a valiant battle against a prolonged illness. He is survived by Mary, his loving wife of over 51 years; his daughter, Mary Ryan Bloyd Wineberg; his son-in-law, Joshua Wineberg; and their four children (Emma, Benjamin, Rosemary, and Jonathan), his beloved grandchildren who called him “Poppy”. Jon was an avid reader and a lifelong student of history and the natural sciences. He was a joyful person and enjoyed life but most of all, he just loved having fun. Jon had a great sense of humor and was more than a little fond of pulling off a good joke. Always excited to witness God’s majesty revealed in nature, on stormy or very windy days, Jon could be found sitting outside wrapped in a wool blanket to experience every moment to the fullest. He was a writer, an artist, a lover of music, good conversation, and the occasional pie, Pine Club steak, or Chinese feast from North China. Jon was generous to a fault with a deep love for his family, always putting them first. He was a devout Catholic and followed the teachings of God, the Catholic Church, and the Bible. He truly spent his life in service to his family and others. Thank you, Jon, Dad, and “Poppy” for your enduring love and care. We love you so much and miss you every day. May Jesus hold you close to Him until we meet again in heaven.
