In Memory Of
Linda McGaughey
1951 - 2021

Linda McGaughey passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, September 13th, 2021. She will be remembered as a selfless, caring, and incredibly genuine individual with a tremendous capacity and desire to help others.

Born July 8th, 1951 in Canton, OH, to her parents Betty Tesmer and George "Curly" Miller, Linda spent over thirty years as a property manager, much of which was at John Sale Manor in Xenia where her popularity with the senior residents enabled her to help countless individuals during her time there. In 2013, she was even named Senior of the Year in Xenia for all of the work that she did in the city to support others. Her dedication to helping others was a common theme throughout her life.

She was an absolutely legendary figure in the Dayton cat rescue scene, where she had become truly renown for not only her ability to work with animals but also her capability to teach and make others better at working with them as well. Her passion was TNR, or Trap Neuter Return, where she had earned a reputation as an absolutely prolific trapper and rescuer.

From 2012-2016 Linda could often be found at Hara Arena supporting her "boyz" on the Dayton Demonz and Dayton Demolition Hockey teams as a season ticket holder. She volunteered here, as well, working on the boosters and dedicating much of her time and energy to her hockey family.

Linda was tremendous to all of us and in everything she did, but perhaps none of her efforts described above match her dedication as a loving mother that consistently went above and beyond to ensure the needs and wants of her children always came first. She instilled in them the value of hard work, and always made sure to be their biggest cheerleader - she was incredibly proud of them.

She is survived by her children, daughter Kelly Mora, son-in-law Parker Mora, son Kyle McGaughey, daughter-in-law Stacy McGaughey; grandchildren Austin Bennett, Megan Mora, Jacob Mora, Tyler Spurlock, Alayna Spurlock, and Ashlynn McGaughey; brothers Ken Miller and Tom Miller; stepsister Debbie Comisar; her parents and, of course, her faithful canine companion José.

In lieu of a traditional funeral Linda requested cremation and that her family and friends gather together in a celebration of her life. The visitation will be held at the Newcomer Chapel at 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek, Ohio, from 3 to 5pm on Saturday, October 2nd.

LiFeline Cat Rescue and Network has established the Linda McGaughey Memorial TNR Fund to ensure Linda's work and passion continues. In lieu of flowers please consider donating directly to support their efforts via Paypal at (mamatosix@hotmail.com)
