Peggie J. Worthey, age 86, of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. She was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, to the late Frank and Esther Womble McTier.

Peggie graduated from Dudley High School in Greensboro, before spending 2 years at Barber Scotia College. She then married her husband of more than 65 years and moved to Dayton, Ohio. Peggie worked as an office assistant in an accounting firm for several years before completing her studies for a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Wright State University. She taught primarily 6th grade for 28 years before retiring. Her classroom kids were her joy and their development her pride.

Peggie was a longtime member of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., the Beta Delta Chapter. She worked diligently with other members to promote the Chapter's aims and goals. Peggie joined the First Baptist Church of Dayton, where she served on the Mission Board for several years. She was also a staunch supporter of the Church's "Feed the Homeless Lunch Program".

Peggie loved her family and cherished her friends. She and her husband spent many weekends entertaining them and being entertained by them. She was a great cook and will be sorely missed.

Peggie is survived by her husband, Richard; her son, Richard, Jr. of Greensboro, NC; brother, Tyrone McTier of Greensboro, NC; special nephew, Michael (Anna) Womble of Wheatley, NY; and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm, on Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm.

Donations may be made in her memory to St. Vincent De Paul, 124 W. Apple St., Dayton, OH 45402.
