Byrtle Douglas Welsh "Byrt", age 85 of Mansfield, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Woodlands of Middletown. He was born November 28, 1934 in Hemlock, Ohio the son of Floyd and Helen Welsh.

Byrt graduated from Ohio University where he was a member of PHI DELTA THETA fraternity. He then proudly served his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time at the Friendly House in his youth and continued to spend time there as an adult volunteering his time. He served on the board of the Soldiers and Sailors Museum in Mansfield. He was also a member of AMVETS. He was known for his sense of humor and loved spending time with his granddaughters. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather "Papa" who will be dearly missed.

Byrt is survived by his daughter, Michele (John) Price; granddaughters, Megan & Shelby Price; brother -in-laws, Jack Herr, Fred James & Tom Roth; and many other loving friends and family members.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; and sisters, Francis, Margaret & Terry.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Friendly House in Mansfield, Ohio -or- the Soldiers and Sailors Museum in Mansfield, Ohio.

Per Byrt's request, there will be no public services.
