Peter Anthony Candela, age 71, of Dayton, passed away on August 7, 2020. He was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, on January 13, 1949, the son of the late Anthony and Mildred Candela.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Rebecca Candela; brother, Steven Candela; and sister, Dena Candela .

Peter is survived by his sons, Anthony (Stephanie) Candela and Zachary (Samantha) Candela; grandchildren, Kayleigh, Brittan, Rylin, Cora, Anna and Olivia; sisters, Lori Candela and Julie Candela; his beloved cats, Whiskers and Callie; and many other loving family and friends.

He was the Owner of Candela & Sons Asphalt and Sealing and was the former Owner/Operator of Dillinger's Cafe in New Carlisle. Peter was also a former Mayor of Greenville, PA. He was a previous President of the Sons Of Italy, Dayton and a past member of the VFW and American Legion of Greenville, PA. In his free time, he enjoyed arts/crafts, woodworking and was an avid sports fan, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Penguins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020, from 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm, at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Willow View Cemetery .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the VFW of Greenville, PA: VFW, 54 Conneaut Lake Rd., Greenville, PA 16125.
