Willie James Upshaw, age 70 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020. He was born September 16, 1949 in Phenix City, Alabama, the son of the late Virgil and Mildred Upshaw.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Frances Troutman and Dorothy Oliphant.

Willie is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Yupok; children, Lisa Upshaw, Kim (Patrick) Trowles, Jason Upshaw, T.J. (Christina) Upshaw; grandchildren, Micah and Julian; sister, Martha Jean Henderson; niece, Tasha Oliphant; brother-in-law, Moses Oliphant; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

Willie retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force. He loved to sing and adored his 2 grandkids. Willie will be remembered by his catchphrase, "cute in the face and slim in the waist!" Roll Tide!

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Newcomer North Chapel (4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, Ohio 45424). Funeral service will begin at 4 pm, with military honors.
