In Memory Of
Shirla R. Jones
1935 - 2019
Throughout her life, Shirla's faith led her to becoming a Christian school teacher for over 34 years. Her students would lovingly refer to Shirla as their "Iron Mamaw". Shirla went on to becoming an accomplished and recognized author of Christian teachings, that would include authoring "The Virtuous Woman" and "The Preacher's Wife." She also served as a volunteer chaplain at the Warren County Jail. Totally gave her life to others. Shirla also enjoyed sewing and was considered quite the perfectionist by the members of her seamstress group at church. Her friends of her sewing group called Shirla, "Mrs. Rip-It-Out," because if it wasn't perfect, she would start the project all over again.
Along with her husband, Pastor Jones, Shirla leaves behind a loving legacy that includes her daughters, Derinda Chalfant of Covington, KY and Glenda (Bill) Rencsok of Lebanon, OH; 6 granddaughters, Sarah (Joshua) Clark of Paris, KY, Rebekah (Kevin) Robinson of Fowler, MI, Abigail (Shawn) Roark of Fairfield, OH, Joanna (Jarrod) Mahaffey of Columbus, OH, Lydia (Kyle) Martin of Kenwood, OH and Deborah Rencsok of Lebanon, OH; 9 great-grandchildren and many loving friends and students.
Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lebanon Baptist Temple, 130 W. Silver Street, Lebanon, OH 45036. Funeral services celebrating Shirla's life will be held at the church the following morning, Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 10:00am with Pastor Richard Drummond officiating. Shirla will be interred follow the funeral in the Turtlecreek Township Cemetery.
