Shirla Ruth Jones, age 83, of Lebanon, OH went home to her Lord on November 5, 2019. Shirla was born on December 10, 1935, in Longview, TX. She was the daughter of Wilbur and Nello (Young) Jolly. On a beautiful Sunday in Houston, TX on February 1, 1953, Shirla married the love of her life, Allen Jones. Not long after their marriage, Shirla and Pastor Jones accepted their Lord Jesus Christ into their lives and they began a journey dedicated to serving their Lord.
Throughout her life, Shirla's faith led her to becoming a Christian school teacher for over 34 years. Her students would lovingly refer to Shirla as their "Iron Mamaw". Shirla went on to becoming an accomplished and recognized author of Christian teachings, that would include authoring "The Virtuous Woman" and "The Preacher's Wife." She also served as a volunteer chaplain at the Warren County Jail. Totally gave her life to others. Shirla also enjoyed sewing and was considered quite the perfectionist by the members of her seamstress group at church. Her friends of her sewing group called Shirla, "Mrs. Rip-It-Out," because if it wasn't perfect, she would start the project all over again.
Along with her husband, Pastor Jones, Shirla leaves behind a loving legacy that includes her daughters, Derinda Chalfant of Covington, KY and Glenda (Bill) Rencsok of Lebanon, OH; 6 granddaughters, Sarah (Joshua) Clark of Paris, KY, Rebekah (Kevin) Robinson of Fowler, MI, Abigail (Shawn) Roark of Fairfield, OH, Joanna (Jarrod) Mahaffey of Columbus, OH, Lydia (Kyle) Martin of Kenwood, OH and Deborah Rencsok of Lebanon, OH; 9 great-grandchildren and many loving friends and students.
