She was born on September 19, 1923 to Claud and Agnes (Hall) Watts in Terre Haute, IN. She graduated from Wiley High School in 1942, then worked for Bell Telephone Company.
On February 15, 1946, she married Ned L. McPherson. They lived in Indiana for 24 years before relocating to Ohio.
She was a member of Church of the Ascension in Middletown, Ohio.
Joan retired in 1985 from Miami-Carey in Mason, Ohio to care for her family.
She later enjoyed over 20 years of retirement in Daytona Beach, Florida before returning to Ohio in 2013. She travelled extensively and had some great adventures in Europe, Africa and the UK. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest joy.
Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Martha Ann (Kenneth) Sheldrick; Grandchildren; Siana Gibson, Andrew Sheldrick, and Neville Sheldrick; and 6 great-grandchildren; Jamie & Jake Gibson, Alayna, Emma and Eleanor Sheldrick, and Isabella Sheldrick.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Claud Matthew Watts and Agnes Lucille Powell, and her husband Ned.
Memorial services will be held on November 1, 2019, 10:30 AM at Church of the Ascension (2709 McGee Ave. Middletown, OH. 45044). Interment will immediately follow in the Church's Scattering Garden.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Society, or any organization supporting those with dementia and their caregivers.
