Cheryl Lynn Gates, 68, of West Alexandria, passed away on September 17, 2019 at Ohio State University East.

She was born on June 17, 1951 to Lenard and Naomi (Stout) England at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.

Cheryl worked as a Dental Assistant for 35 years with Dr. Thomas Doench, Dr. John Striebel, and Dr. Karen Goulden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Naomi and Lenard England; and brother, “Baby Steve.”

Cheryl is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Jeffrey; children, Jacinda (Bill) Wheeler, Alicia (Joe) Scaglione, and Dana (Karen) Ward; step-children, Christopher (Alicia) Gates and Sonja Bitsko; grandchildren, Cliff, Jack, Jacob, Hannah, Reagan, Carson, Max, Rachel, Cori, and Hailey; brother, Mike (Cathy) England, nephews Matt and Steven, and niece, Chelsi; life-long “sister,” Beverly Ainsworth; nephew, Jamie (Shelley) Gates; great nieces and nephew, Adelee, Gentry, and Peyton; and many other loving extended family and friends.

Cheryl’s purpose was her acts of kindness and service that came from her heart to make others’ lives feel more fulfilled. Her love for others, especially her family, was boundless and unconditional. She was a graceful, compassionate woman with a radiant smile and contagious laugh.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, 2019, from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Kettering Chapel, with a service immediately following at 1 pm.

A special thanks to the Critical Care staff at Wexner Ohio State East Hospital for their exceptional, compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s memory are suggested to the American Lung Association or American Cancer Society.
