In Memory Of
Verna Gullett
1938 - 2019
After receiving her Bachelor's Degree from Atlantic Union College,Verna taught school for 4 years. She would then marry the love of her life, Augustus "Gus" Gullett, Sr., on November 22, 1962 in Morrisville, VT. Together, they began raising their family and Verna became a full-time homemaker and mother to her 3 sons.
In her free time, Verna loved feeding her birds and squirrels and taking walks in the woods with her boys and pet dogs. During these walks, Verna would share stories while they would hunt for wild berries. Her sons would sometimes pick berries with her and they each wanted their own pies, and she often obliged. Along with baking "the best pies," Verna was also an excellent cook. She enjoyed sharing her recipes with family and friends. Verna especially enjoyed making home made pizzas with her family; she actually wrote a poem about their family pizza-making experiences.
Along with her husband, Augustus "Gus", Verna is survived by her 3 sons, Augustus (Jennifer) Gullett, Jr., Douglas J. Gullett and David L. (Leslie) Gullett, Sr., brother, William J. Blair; granddaughter, Christina M. (David) Moore; grandsons, David L. Gullett, Jr., and Augustus S. Gullett; great-granddaughter, Melina R. Moore; great-grandson, Josiah L. Moore; and many extended family and close friends.
Visitation for Verna will be held Monday, August 19, 2019, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00 am at Newcomers with Pastor Terry Carlisle officiating. Burial will take place in the Bellbrook Cemetery.
