In Memory Of
Viola Clara Kennedy
1943 - 2019

Viola Clara Kennedy, age 76, of Cuba City, WI, joined her husband, Denny, her daughter Sharrie and granddaughter, Aalyah and many others in heaven on Thursday July 4, 2019.

Viola Clara Kennedy (VC for short) was a passionate fighter for the underdog, loved anything purple and had an unwavering connection to God. She spent her lifetime attempting to right her wrongs while ensuring that others were seen and taken care of. She made it clear that her home was a safe place for every kid. She was known for finding gifts for anyone who showed up at Christmas.

Vi had one true love, Denny Sr. Her heart truly broke when he died before her. She kept his wallet in her bedside table and his pictures and a copy of his obituary on her nightstand. She was an avid reader who could spend hours on the back deck, a book in hand; smoking and drinking her diet cokes. She always made time to talk to those who stopped by to see her or who crossed her path when she was out and about. She was dedicated to doing her rosary daily. She balanced her reading with watching crime shows and talking about her life.

She was absolutely head over heels about her grandkids. She was the happiest when they would stop by to see her or call her on the phone. We were told by one of the boys that she was a great listener who didn’t judge and who would bluntly tell him the truth about what she thought. She recently had the opportunity to travel to North Carolina and spend time with her grandkids there. She talked on the way there about how important it was to her that the kids “knew what a grandma is”. She took great pride as she drove away, feeling good about how she was able to connect with the kids.

Every once in a while, she would get a calling and be off to the casino where she could spend many hours playing the penny slot machines. Going on this adventure with her, one would see that it was just as much about spending time, talking, laughing and taking turns hitting the button as it was about winning a jack pot.

Viola Clara was preceded in death by her husband, Denny; daughter, Sharrie; granddaughter, Aalyah; parents, Joseph & Mary; sisters, Mary and Ellen; brothers, Bernie, John and Joey; nephews, Bernard “Johnny”, Joe, Billy, Charlie, David and Lance; great-niece, Betsy; and great- nephew, Jeremy.

She is survived by her best buddy, Truck; children, Eileen (Mike), Jennie, Denny (Matthew), Terri and Danny (Kendra); grandchildren, Corey (Renee), Alex, Derek, Sidney, Reilly, Kyle (Christa), Tracy, Aaryn, Brendan, Luke, Cecila, Keaton,Broderick , Taylon and Nyah; great-grandchildren, Jude, Reed, Cash and Anthony; siblings, Karen (Chuck), Pat (Jack) and Frank; and many other relatives and friends.

Please join her family and friends in a celebration of life on Saturday July 20, 2019 from 4-8pm at Ehrler Ranch Events Barn, 11866 W Chetlain Lane, Galena, IL 61036.
