1931 - 2019

Wetzel, John G. “Jack”, 87, of Fairborn, OH passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years Joan M. “Jo” (Meyer) Wetzel, his parents John F. Wetzel and Margaret (Roell) Wetzel, sisters Ruth Mangold and Lorraine Knecht. He is survived and will be sadly missed by his children Cheryl (John) Stancoven, John R. (Cindy) Wetzel, Richard (Laura) Wetzel and Steven (Estella) Wetzel. Grandchildren include Thomas Masterson, Stephanie Roemen, and Leah Shawyer; John M. Wetzel, Matthew Wetzel, and Stacy Jenkinson; Sandy Wetzel, David Wetzel, step-grandsons Josh Frazier, Luke Frazier, and Miles Frazier; Beau Wetzel, Ben Wetzel, and Hans Wetzel; fifteen great grandchildren. Jack was born on June 20, 1931 and raised in Cincinnati OH. After attending Elder High School and a year of college, he served honorably in the US Coast Guard. He and Jo married and started a family, relocating to the Dayton area, their permanent home base since 1957. He was a long-term and very successful sales representative with the 3M Company, responsible for a sprawling territory including much of Ohio. He was a parishioner of Ascension Catholic Church since 1957 and cherished the friendships he developed at church. In retirement, he fulfilled his dream of wintering in Florida and enjoyed his passion for boating while maintaining a residence in the Dayton area near his family.

Family will greet friends at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd, Beavercreek, OH. Tuesday, April 30 from 10:00am 11:00am. A service at their Chapel will begin at 11:00am. A graveside service will follow at Mount Zion Park Cemetery, Beavercreek OH.
