In Memory Of
Clora Ceretha Guy
1941 - 2018
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Rev. Curtis and Pearl Watkins of Rogersville, Alabama, siblings, Luther, Ella, Eddie, Valerie, Rezalena, Alcerean, Iunice, and N.V., as well as one daughter, LaVerne “Bunny” Watkins.
In 1965, she married Robert Guy of Gainesville, Alabama; and to that union, they shared the love of 5 children born and raised in Dayton, Ohio; 4 of whom survive: son, David “Dae Dae” Guy; daughters, LaShonda “Panne” Guy, Sherita “Rit” Guy and SheRon “Baboo” Guy Lee. Also survived by her siblings, Rilla and Arizona. She was affectionately known as “Big Mama” to her loving 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She had a special love for her stepson, Charles L. Lacking, “son from another mother”, Paul A. Bryant and dear and close friend, Bobbie Boggs.
Evangelist Clora Guy was a true believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Called to the ministry at an early age, she loved to preach and teach to the glory of God. She shared the gospel of Jesus Christ at every opportunity, in her letters, phone calls, and even until her last breath.
She was a member of the Full Gospel Church of the Living God, where she served as the church secretary. She had a profound love for gospel music, and for many years she and her niece, Darlene Watkins, sang with the family group “The Starlight Singers”.
Big Mama loved board games and watching college basketball, especially the Dayton Flyers, and she also worked at the University of Dayton for many years.
Clora Ceretha Guy has provided us all with many beautiful and love- filled memories of what a Godly wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and child of God demonstrates. She lived a life and left a legacy never to be forgotten.
