LAY, Doris. I., age 91, was called by the Lord April 12, 2018 for a square dance. She passed peacefully at her home with her sister and son by her side looking forward to her place in God’s heavenly home. Preceded in death by her parents, Condy and Mae Wright; loving husband, Pascal Lay; siblings, Billy, Edward, Kennedy, and Orena Wright; sister and best friend, Thelma Taylor; grandson, Kevin Lay. Survived by sons, Sherman (Catherine) Lay and Gary (Joyce) Lay; sister, Ruth Wilson; grandchildren, Monica (Douglas) Woods, Jeff (Shaye) Lay, and Julie (Joe) Giudici; 6 great grandchildren, and life partner (best friend) David Thomas. Doris was raised by her step-mother, Josephine in a coal mining camp. She was proud to be a coal miner’s daughter. Doris loved the Lord and living life to the fullest. She enjoyed square dancing, family, and was always on the go. She was a member of several square dance clubs. Doris belonged to the First Baptist of Miamisburg Church. Doris’ goal was to be a good wife and mother to her sons and she accomplished both with profound commitment and dedication. A grandmother a child could only hope for and met every obstacle in her life with determination and a positive attitude. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Newcomer (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering with a service following at 11:00 am. Burial will take place at Dayton Memorial Park.
