Cook, Daniel R. “Dan”, 81, of Kettering, passed away March 10, 2018.

He was born January 5, 1937 in Newport, KY to the late Raymond and Lorraine (Sauter) Cook.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 sons, James “Jay” in 1980 and Steven “Steve” in 2017.

Dan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lora “Ann” (Harris) Cook; his son, Jeff (Jenny Barnhill) Cook of Centerville; two grandsons, Jason (Amanda) Cook, Jeremy (Kate Smith) Cook all of North Carolina; great-granddaughter, Frances “Frankie” Pearl Cook; sister, Mary Lou (Frank) Palazzo; sister-in-law, Bobby (Art) Brandt; many nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Dick and Barb Rentz, Dave and Sue Freeze, and Chris Long.

Dan was retired from Ohio Bell after 35 years, starting out as an installer and retiring as a Foreman. Dan lived his retired life to the fullest between golf, vacationing and time with his family. Myrtle Beach will never be the same! He touched so many with his personality, sense of humor, quick wit and laid back nature.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Newcomer, South Chapel 3940 Kettering Blvd. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in his memory.
