Richard E. Ries, died peacefully on 2/9/18 at the Carlyle House in Kettering, Ohio.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 3, 1926. He was a graduate of Hughes High School and the University of Cincinnati, School of Engineering. His Engineering career spanned many decades. His military service was spent in Huntsville, Alabama Redstone Arsenal working on the missile program.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (nee Sack), and children Julia (Scott) Kitz, Kathleen (Rod) Barrett, Lisa (Mike) Auricchio, Joseph (Lisa) Paton, William (Teresa) Paton, Chris (Susan) Paton, Michael (Melissa) Paton; sixteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Loretta (Bohl) Ries, brother, Robert (Patricia) Ries, and sister, Lois (George) Bradley.

He was well loved by family and friends. He had a great love of woodworking as well as Jazz and Classical music.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at the Carlyle House and Michael Vanatta at Vitas Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Rd Cincinnati, OH 45220 in Richard’s memory.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Newcomer, South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Kettering, Ohio 45439.
