Baskett, Vivian, A., age 94, of Dayton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 22, 2014. She was born April 23, 1920 in Dayton to her late parents: Robert Lee Baskett & Caroline (Stegman) Winters. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters: Veda Mae, Evelyn & Peggy Lee; brother: Robert Lee; and her very dear friend of 50 years: Sally Holcomb.

She is survived by her niece and caregiver: Judith Seal; and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Vivian was a member of the Red Hat Society and “Bussom Buddies” which is a group helping those going through cancer treatment, as she was a breast cancer survivor herself. She sang for many weddings and funerals, as well as a trio group called “Wings Over Dayton”. Vivian was Dr. Correll’s personal secretary and then served as secretary to the general manager of NCR until she retired in 1957. She was a mentor to many young people, serving as the superintendent of the High School Department at Christian Tabernacle. All who knew her loved her and knew her love for the Lord. She attended Patterson Park Church and Miami Shores Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Interment to follow at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00A.M. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Vivian.
