EGBERT, Ann R.

Age 79, of Vandalia, formerly of Huber Heights, OH passed away March 2, 2015 at The Hospice of Dayton. She was born June 15, 1935 to parents, Wilburn C. and Sylvia Moore of Atchison, Kansas.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents; son, Dallas Egbert; and half brother, Clifford Moore.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. James D. Egbert of 53 years; her son, Dr. Douglas Egbert and daughter- in-law, Jennifer of Beavercreek, OH ; and (the joy of her life) her two grandchildren, Zoe and Ethan. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Gross and husband Dr. Melvin Gross of Flower Mound, Texas as well as her brother, Harold Moore and wife, Josephine of Huber Heights, Ohio. Also surviving Ann is her aunt, Thelma Fultz of Atchison, Kansas.

Ann graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Occupational Therapy and practiced in Portland, Oregon and Dayton, Ohio. She left occupational therapy in 1969 to help her husband establish an optometry practice (Gemini Eye Care) in Huber Heights, Ohio and became Secretary/Treasure and frame buyer for the current three Dayton area offices until becoming ill in July of last year. Ann had a great passion for life, working with amputees in Oregon, the Huber Heights Jaycees and as a Huber Heights Welcome Wagon Hostess.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015 from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Interment to be held privately.

The Egbert family wishes to express special thanks to the many doctors who cared for Ann, also The Hospice of Dayton, and Ann’s special friends, Bev Parrish and Kathy Straus.
