MORGAN, Donna Rae, age 84 of Kettering, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018.

Donna was born February 26, 1934 to Arthur and Josephine (Wolfe) Morgan. Donna graduated from Windham High School in 1951. She attended Wilmington College for one year, then enlisted in the Air Force in April 1952. She was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio TX as a musician in the Women’s Air Force Band until her Honorable discharge in April 1954. In 1961 – 1962 Donna attended the Salvation Army Academy in Atlanta GA. Donna served in the Salvation Army in San Antonio TX, and in New Orleans LA. Donna was the first female Band Master for the Salvation Army and participated in numerous Choirs, choruses, and bands. During her time in the Salvation Army, Donna received both her Bachelors (St. Mary’s) and Masters (Tulane) degrees in Social Work. During the 1970’s Donna transitioned to the Florida Boys and Girls homes as a Social Worker in Braden FL. Her service to others continued when she moved to Tampa FL and was employed by Tampa General Hospital as a Social Worker for their Cardiac unit and then later in their Burn unit. Donna finished her career of service with one final position with the Salvation Army in FL then moved to Kettering OH in 2007 to be closer to family. Donna’s love of music continued with the Miamisburg Community Chorus, and the St. James Methodist Church Choir.

Donna was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many and her generous spirit will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Arthur Morgan, sister-in-law, Rosalie Morgan, niece, Gloria Rice, and great nephew, Donald Morgan II. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Janet Morgan of Miamisburg, OH, and much loved nieces and nephews: Paula (Ron) Kline of Ravenna, OH, Arthur ”Bud” (Bonnie) Morgan of Fowler, OH, Vickie Weier of Blue Mounds, WI, Donald Morgan of Blue Mounds, WI, Kathy Morrison of Freedom, OH, Lisa (Paul) Rumple of Howland, OH, Dennis (Shirley) Morgan of Farragut, TN, Debra (David) Brandenstein of Miamisburg, OH, Danette (Andrew) Chance of Miamisburg, OH, Dorothea Morgan of Centerville, OH, as well as 22 great nieces and nephews and 33 great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Saturday June 16, 2018 at Newcomer South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd. from 9a.m. - 11a.m. Funeral Service immediately following at 11a.m., Pastor R. Stuart Rammes officiating. Interment will be at Dayton VA Cemetery on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. James United Methodist Church 401 Carlwood Dr. Miamisburg, OH 45342, in Donna’s memory.
