Allie Vernon Jent
90, Of New Carlisle, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018. He was born in
Morehead, Kentucky on November 17, 1927. The son of Harvey L. Jent and Myrtle M. Jent.
Allie is survived by his children Carl E. Jent, David P. Jent (Tina), Karen S. Folden, Darryl E.
Jent (Christy), Donna M. Eichhorn, Lisa K. Dean (Jerry), James C. Curtis. Also surviving are
Brother Delmer C. Jent, 21 Grandchildren, 35 Great grandchildren, 2 Great great grandchildren
with 1 on the way he knew about, and Kloe Jent his dog. Preceded in Death by his parents, wife
Katherine O. Jent, Ten brothers and sisters, children Cheryl A. Jent, William E. Jent, Larry V.
Jent.
Allie lived a long and happy life. In his earlier years, he worked on the farm to help his
family. As he got older he met the love of his life Katherine and had their first born son in
Kentucky. Later, he moved his family to Ohio where he started a career at General Motors and
expanded his family by having 9 more children. In 1962, he and his wife Katherine bought a
home in Park Layne where he retired from GM in June of 1981. He took pride in his tools and
garden. He loved his fried green tomatoes, card games, western movies, and Hank Williams
music. At the age of 83, he survived open heart surgery and was taken care of for the remainder
of his life by his granddaughter Jessica L. Payne-Cox (John A. Diehl) and her children Nickolas
A. Payne, Anastasia L. Baker, and Cierra N. Cox.
A special thanks to Jeffrey L. Bour and Keith A. Young at Newcomers for all their help and support and
Wendell Slagell and the congregation at the Huber Mennonite Church for opening their church
for his memorial services and providing a meal for the family.
Services will be held Saturday March 31, 2018 from 12 - 2pm meal to follow at Huber
Mennonite Church located at 1885 S. Dayton-Lakeview Rd. New Carlisle, Ohio 45344. Please
