Donna Jean Shade, 93, passed away in the early morning of Thursday, March 8th at Brookdale of Kettering. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 30, 1924 to Bernadine Marie and Henry John Draves.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Shade; her daughters, Carroll Suzanna Haycraft and Alice Ann Neff; her granddaughter Alexis Jean Montroy; and her brother John Henry Draves.

In the 1950s she was a teacher at Saint Mary’s Catholic School. Later in life, she taught at Saint Phillip Neri Catholic School in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

She traveled around the country and overseas with her first husband Lt. Colonel Charles C. Posey. While stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, she was very active in the Officers Wives Club and worked many hours for the Red Cross.

She returned to Dayton in the 1970s and worked for the State of Ohio until her retirement. She and her husband Robert Shade volunteered several years at Hospice.

She moved to Brookdale of Kettering in 2013, where she loved participating in all the activities.
She is survived by her daughter Margaret Marie Beaty; her son Mark Charles (Charnell) Posey; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held for Donna at the convenience of the family.
