He was born on June 27, 1925 to Joseph Paul Harrod and Ida May Horton in Dayton.
He married Janet on October 12th in 1946 and they were happily married for 63 years. Bennie and Janet made Bellbrook their home where they had 4 children.
Bennie was a Gunner’s Mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Lloyd.
He worked for the Otterbein Press/ United Color Press for 39 years until he retired.
Bennie was an avid gun enthusiast and loved target and turkey shoots.
He was a member of the NRA, North Dayton Anglers, Bellbrook Lions Club and Grange.
Bennie is survived by Daughters, Ruth (William) Vest, Wendy (Dan) Born, and Teresa (Jason) Harris; Brother, Willie (Alma Jean) Campbell; Cousins Butch Ditmeyer and Jimmy Alexander; Grandchildren Scott Vest, Melody Vest, Melissa Inman, Michelle Disher, Mike Copher, Joe Born, Jenni Omosule, and Justin Harris; and, 11 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives.
He was preceded in death by his Wife, Janet Harrod; Son, Mark Harrod; Father, Joseph Paul Harrod; and Mother, Ida May Horton.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 22, 2017, at 4:00 pm with Service following at 5:00 pm at the Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - South Chapel, Kettering, OH.Thanks to the great care of Greene County Council on Aging (1195 W. 2nd St, Xenia, OH 45385) and Hospice of Dayton (324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420, donations may be made in lieu of flowers.
