Donald W. Shaw, 85, of Xenia, passed away November 30, 2017. Donald was born in Georgetown, Ohio on June 7, 1932 to the late John and Esther Shaw. Donald graduated from Georgetown High School and the Ohio State University with a major in music and was an ROTC member. He obtained a CPCU accreditation and was a class instructor. He served as a Captain in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance for 39 years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Xenia. He had been a member of the Greene County Adult Concert Band, Cedarville University Band and the Ohio State University Marching Band.

Donald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Reta M. (Hopkins) Shaw; parents, J. Arthur Shaw and Esther (Jones) Shaw; and granddaughter, Corissa Shaw.

He is survived by his son, Don A. (Cyndi) Shaw; daughter, Gail E. (Dave) Yates; brother, Stanley (Nancy) Shaw; grandchildren, Amber (Curtis Carson), Alyssa and Daniel Yates, Teresa Valdez and Renee (Dennis Garwood); great grandchildren, Alijah Yates, Jae Tana, Stephanie Williams, Wyatt, Chad and Nathan Ackerman, Quinten and Keegan Garwood and Jayden Valdez; and several nieces, nephews and special friends.

A visitation will be held from 9:30 – 10:30am on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Road, Xenia, OH 45385, where funeral services will begin at 10:30am. A private burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bowersville, OH.
