1932 - 2017

Clarence Lamar Gifford, age 85 of New Carlisle passed away peacefully on November 22, 2017 after a long battle with COPD. Clarence was born in 1932 in Jamestown, Ohio to the late Clarence S. and Evelyn Gifford. He graduated from Greeneview High School. Clarence went on to proudly and honorably serve in The United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his service he went on to marry Dorothy Jean Mathews in 1955.

Clarence enjoyed spending his free time outdoors; hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He was a kind and caring man who took great pride in his family. Clarence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his son, Ronald L. Gifford; and sister, Grace Horner.

Clarence leaves to cherish his memory, wife of 62 years, Dorothy Gifford; daughter, Pamela (Michael) McKenzie; grandchildren, Anthony (Hope) McKenzie and Melissa (Daniel) Daulton; great-grandchildren, Madison, Conner, Jacob, and Molly; niece, Margaret Davis; and many other loving relatives and friends.

A visitation will take place on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Newcomer - North Chapel from 5pm - 8pm. Funeral Service the following day (Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017) at 12pm. Burial to follow at Medway Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Clarence's memory to Dayton V.A. Hospice.
