Charles Oran Yount, 89 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Born to the late Donald Eugene Yount and Myrtle Marie (Hicks) Yount on September 28, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mary Grace (Zurwell) Yount.

He was a star athlete in high school and his interest grew to include bowling and boxing.

Charles served in the Korean War and then began work at NCR for 24 years. He served in Law Enforcement for 17 years. His career began at the Kettering Police Department in 1976. He retired as a Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff working as security at the Dayton International Airport in 1993.

He enjoyed woodcarving and was an avid sports fan, especially football and baseball.

He is preceded in death by the following siblings: James, Paul, Dale, Julia, Helen.

He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings: Norman, Richard and Beverly (Jeanne), numerous neices and nephews, including a special bond with Mark Bruns.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Denise (Tony), Joni and Anthony (Amy). His grandchildren: Nicole (Nic), Crystal (Travis), and Dana.

He was fortunate enough to love and know his 11 great grandchildren: Nathaniel (Jeni), Alexis (Chris), Gavin (Shae), Kiana, Raiven, Willie, Angelie, Lillea, Alyssa, Gracie, Sophia.

The family will greet friends on Monday, November 20, 2017 from 2-4:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home.
