She is survived by her 2 children, daughter, Connie Houston of New Carlisle, OH and son, Greg (Cindy) Harris of Casstown, OH; 3 grandchildren, Lindsey (Andy) Weaver of Jackson Center, OH, Nicole (Jeff) Pohlman of Delphos , OH and Garrett (Janey Brinkman) Harris of New Carlisle, OH; 3 sisters that still live in the Dayton area, Kay (James) Williams, Faye Elrod and Jean (Dick) Circle; 2 brothers, Robert Borders of Miamisburg, OH and Jimmie Borders in Virginia; numerous nieces and nephews, too many to mention.
Dora, also known affectionately as "Doe", "Dottie" and "Dora Mae", would want to be remembered as independent and strong willed. Married at 18 and divorced at 45. She lived independently for the last 40 years of her life. Dora Mae enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She was famous for her cooking and the best stories from her family and friends are about some of their favorite dishes- biscuits & gravy, fried chicken, liver & onions, German chocolate cake. She had a huge green thumb and loved her plants and flowers. She loved gospel music and she loved to sing.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-3 PM on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. where a memorial service will begin at 3 PM.
Dora had such a passion for cooking, in lieu of flowers, please take your family out for a meal in memory of her.
