Mr. Rudy J. Koos passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 24th in Dryridge, Kentucky on the water doing one of the things he loved most. Rudy is preceded in death by his father Louis, his brother Louis and beloved friend Bob Snodgrass. Rudy learned his second language English at the age of six after attending his first day of Catholic school and asking his mother what in the world his teacher was saying as he only knew how to speak Hungarian. Rudy was a lifelong lover of the out of doors he loved to hunt, fish, trap furs and turtles. As a young man he met the beautiful Kathy Smith at the beach at St Mary's lake which was where Rudy often spent many weekends at the family trailer there. Rudy and Kathy married in 1962 and at that time he worked in Oakwood Bakery as a head baker soon after Rudy joined the Army and served in Korea. Rudy was a hard worker all of his life and never let his family down in this regard, he also worked as a painter a woodcutter and retired after many years of service from General Motors at the Inland Plant. Rudy was also a long time Mason, but his most proud achievements were his wife, children and grandchildren. Rudy found his passion near the end of his brother’s short life - the Native American culture, and people and his true calling the crafting of Indian arts and crafts, which he took great pride in. He attended Pow Wows for over thirty years in the northeastern United States, and delighted many collectors with his realistic replicas of many Indian pieces of art. Rudy has left to honor his memory his 99 year old mother Elsie, his wife of 55 years Kathy his oldest daughter Kelly (Henry), son Richard, grandchildren Jacob, Elijah, Sarah, and Abigail. His youngest daughter Rhonda (Harris) that he lovingly called the caboose of the family, son David, grandsons Grayson and Ben (Frank). He always referred to his sons in law as sons and he would have wanted them referred to here that way as well. And his longtime friends Joe Harris and Jackie Whiteman. His sister in law Joyce Polyak and brother in law JD Smith; many nieces and nephews including very special nephew Jimmy Leslie and long-time family friend Rita Harrison.

Rudy will be sadly missed by family friends and acquaintances alike. Two Dogs Trading Post has officially closed up shop the owner and artisan has now taken his rest.
