Glen A. Maxon, age 78, of Kettering, passed away June 18, 2017.

He was born February 14, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Charles and Velma (Thornton) Maxon. Glen was employed by McCall’s for 20 years and then worked for several years for Fifth Third Bank as an HVAC Technician. He belonged to Gethsemane Southern Baptist Church in Moraine for 57 years.

Glen was preceded in death by his father, Charles Maxon, brother, Billy Maxon, sister, Nancy Helton, and mother, Velma Maxon.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty (Beard) Maxon; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Mark Smith; son and daughter in law, Marcus and Debbie Jean Maxon; grandchildren, Heather Smith, Michelle and husband, Butch Stidham, Missy Smith, Krista and husband, Nick Alldred, Josh Maxon, Jamison Maxon, and Jordan and wife, Rachael Maxon. Glen is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alexis Stidham, Hunter Stidham, Austin Stidham, and Isaiah Washburn, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Glen loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play sports. He will be deeply missed.

Glen’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dayton for their care and guidance. In lieu of flowers, an expression of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Dayton.

Visitation will be held 12:30pm until 1:30pm on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd. where funeral service will follow at 1:30pm. Glen will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery.
