Rininger, John H., 86, of Kettering, passed away May 16, 2017.

He was born in Dayton, Ohio to the late John H. and Margaret (Debusman) Rininger. John retired from GM after 34 years, and was a dedicated Kettering resident, serving as a Kettering City Councilman for 14 years. He also served on the Kettering Park Board and was a member of Kettering Sister Cities. John was a member of Lions Club and received their Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, the love of his life, Norma (Barker) in 2014, and his son, John in 2006.

John is survived by his 3 daughters, Susan (Ronald) Schweller, Joan (Joel) Whitten, Julie McBride; 4 grandchildren, Casey, Travis, Megan and Sam; 4 great grandchildren, Robert, Boyd, Laurel and Reid; and sister, Jane Rininger.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kettering Park Board, Habitat for Humanity, or to Hospice of Dayton in John’s memory.
