1929 - 2017

Mae Ella Pharris, age 87 of Dayton, reunited with her husband, Mitchel J. Pharris on April 26, 2017. She was born October 11, 1929 in Gainesboro, TN to the late Marion and Sally Smith. In addition to her husband and parents, Mae Ella was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary L. Bunn; sons, Darrell W. and James M. Pharris; grandchildren, Victor and Glen Bunn; sisters, Vera Brown and Eunice Hall; half-brothers, Floyd Smith and Junior Smith.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Peggy J. (Larry) Reese, Glenda F. Hartman, and Linda Jo Porter; grandchildren, Terri Milby, Michael Kennedy, DWayne Kennedy, Kim Kinnison Rieder, Steve Kinnison, Raymond M. Milby and James Milby; 32 great-grandchildren; 39 great great-grandchildren; siblings, Eva N. Fox, Becky Jo Poston, Jack Dale Smith, Joyce Boles, Margaret Williams and Betty Smith; special acknowledgment to her dearest friends, Geraldine Rhotten and Mattie Jo Jones, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mae Ella worked and retired from Dayton Bag & Burlap and Yoders Die Casting. She was also employed as a senior citizen nutrition manager at Upper Cumberland Human Resource Agency in Gainsboro, TN. Mae Ella was a member of the Church of Christ.

Family will receive friends from 5-8 PM on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. A funeral service will begin at 12 noon on Sunday, April 30 at the funeral home with her son-in-law, Brother Larry Reese officiating. Interment will follow the service at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Happy Haven Children's Home in Cookeville, TN, in Mae Ella's memory.
