He was preceded in death by his father, Simpson Reed Sr.; mother, Clara (Eversole); brother, Simpson Reed Jr.; son-in-law, Donald Chambliss and granddaughter, Kayley Reed.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie “Sue” Ross-Reed; children, Sherri Reed Stratton, Tawana Chambliss (John Wylie) and Anthony “Weasel” Reed II (Chrystal Rhupert); his three fur babies, Zippo, Louie and Demon; 12 grandchildren, Donald (Stephanie) Chambliss, Toni (Sissy) Chambliss, Ashley Stratton, Christopher Stratton, Anthony Ray Chambliss, Jim Dalton, Harley Stratton, Trevor Chambliss, Kirsten Reed, Mackenzie, Leanna and Jacob Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, sister, Reedi (Skeet) Whitacre, Larry (Jeannie) Reed, Charlotte (Russell) Baxla and numerous nieces and nephews.
He worked in the construction business for 40 years. Met many wonderful people while working for ABS Construction and Coventry Fine Homes, Charlie Waldron.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a good bowler, enjoyed archery, and ran in demolition derbies. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
He was an active member of the Eagles #1689 and the Moose #1629. He was also in the Marines.
A special thanks to all the caring and loving nurses and management at Greene Mem. Hosp., who took such wonderful care of him during his numerous stays. To a super kind housekeeper, Cheryl and a loving caring friend, Brenda Shinkle.
A celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Beavercreek, OH 45432. Visitation from 4:00 until the service at 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to his wife Stephanie Reed.
