Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by daughter, Janet L. Belvo; brother, Robert McGowan.
Gary is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce "Joy"; daughter, Cathy Creason; son, Steve O. McGowan; son-in-law, Aaron Belvo; seven grandchildren, Steven B. McGowan, Sara & Matthew Creason, Cecilia, Joshua, Nicole & Natalie Belvo; as well as 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Gary served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War.
A graveside service will be held at the Dayton National Cemetery on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 1 pm with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.
