He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Lemon and Bertha King Sumlar.
He is survived by his daughters, Julia (Kevin) Moore, Maria (Curtis) Love, Cecelia Lemon, Lisa (Gerald) Holmes; 13 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous relatives and former wife and friend, Mary Anne Lemon.
His daughters are forever grateful for the care and protection provided by Deloris Fultz and Claudia Owens while Garnett was in Ohio.
He was born in Falling Springs, VA. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge from Fort Carson, CO. He later worked at the Pueblo Army Depot for a number of years in Pueblo, CO. He then moved to Dayton.
A visitation will be held from 10:30am - 11:30am on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, followed by a noon graveside service at Dayton National Cemetery.
