Shirley A. Brandenburg, age 81, of Kettering, passed away after a lengthy illness on Sunday, August 21, 2016. Shirley was born March 26, 1935. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Brokschmidt; husband, Ralph “Shorty” Brandenburg; son, Gary Smith (Jewelene); son-in-law, Gary Price; step-son, Mike Brandenburg; and brother-in-law, Richard Shaneyfelt.

Shirley is survived by her sister, Carol Jean Shaneyfelt; brother-in-law, George Brandenburg, and children; Nancy (David) Scarpelli, Joseph Smith, Michael Smith, Diana Price, Debra Horseman, Judy (Norm) Zinck, Richard (Penny) Riblet, Sharon (Tony) Ingram; step-daughters, Connie Acuff and Jodi Barnes, former daughter-in-law Marilyn Smith; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended relatives and friends.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Southview Medical Center, Hospice of Dayton and Homecare Nurse Gloria Comer for their support in her final days.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2016 from 11am-1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home South Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd, Kettering OH 45439). The service will follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
