Ivo "Ike" Hemmelgarn, age 84 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016. He was born March 2, 1932 in Burkettsville, Ohio. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris (Michael) Hemmelgarn; parents, Mary (Backs) and Joseph Hemmelgarn; siblings, Adella Halpin, Bertilla Ernst, Alma Graves, and Albert Hemmelgarn, and grandsons, Douglas and Anthony Jones. Ike is survived by his daughters, Judith (Jim) Jordan, Joyce (Mark) Jones; son, Donald (Laura) Hemmelgarn; granddaughters, Shelley (Jeff) Dean, Kaitlyn Jones, and Jane Hemmelgarn; grandsons, Alex (Jennifer) Jordan, Stephen (Erica) Jordan, Nick Jones, and Walter, Kevin, and William Hemmelgarn; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Ed (Mary Anne) and Leonard (Berdella) Hemmelgarn; sisters, Eileen (Harold) Heuker, Annalee (Jack) Kunkel, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Delco Products after 38 years of service and enjoyed gardening, fishing, wine making, and traveling the U.S. Visitation will be July 29, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on July 30, 2016 at 10:00 am at St. Luke Catholic Church, 1440 N. Fairfield Rd., Beavercreek. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arden Courts of Anderson, 6870 Clough Pike, Cincinnati, OH 45244.
