Robert Harold Griffith, Msgt, USAF (Ret.) (75) passed away on 17, June, 2016, at Dayton, OH, VA Hospice.

Bob was born 12, December 1940 in Prenter, Boone County, WV and graduated from Sherman High School. He was married to his grade school sweetheart, Roxie Anna Pauley and recently they celebrated their 54th anniversary. He was the son of the late Robert D. and Millie M. (Webb) Griffith.

He served in the USAF for thirty-five years as an Air Policeman, Security Policeman, and lastly a Security Specialist in the USAF Civil Service at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. He was an active member and former Vice President of the FOP, Lodge 170 in Dayton, OH; Disabled American Veterans life member; American Legion post 576, Fairborn, OH; and VFW Post 657, Riverside, OH. He was life member #716 of the Vietnam Security Police Association, AF Security Force Association, and the USAF Strategic Air Command Elite Guard. He has been recognized and appointed by former Nebraska Governor Tieman as an Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska.

He specialized in high profile security, unit reunions and honors and ceremonies. He was awarded numerous medals and ribbons to include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with two clusters, Vietnam Service Medals, and AF outstanding unit citations with Valor.

He is preceded in death by his parents; eldest son, Robert H. Griffith Jr.; grandson, James M. Griffith; brothers, John Paul Griffith and George Edward Griffith and sister, Betty Jo Dotson. He is survived by wife, Roxie Anna of Riverside, OH; son, James M. Griffith of Dayton, OH; William E. (Bill) Griffith and fiancée, Anne of Dayton, OH; granddaughters, Tarah Nicole and Brooke Louise Griffith both of Dayton, OH; grandson, Jonathon Priest of Waverly, OH; brothers, Thomas Ray Griffith (Diana) of Milton, FL, Frederick Joe (Rae) of Elizabeth City, NC; sisters, Beverly Jane Langford of Elyria, OH, Alice Sue Toney of Racine, WV, Diana Lynn Workman of Mt. Nebo, WV, and Melissa Ann Bishop (Lawrence) of Cookeville, TN; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; special friends Bonnie and Judy, Mike and Betsy; along with many friends from youth to present.


Arrangements are handled by Newcomer Funeral Home in Beavercreek, OH. Viewing will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday, 20 June 2016 with a service at 8 p.m. Bob will be transported to Leonard Johnson Funeral Home in Marmet, WV, for viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and a funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 June 2016, with his brother, the Rev. Joe Griffith, officiating. Burial will be at Pineview Cemetery in Orgas, WV, with full military honors. Escorts will be provided by the Ohio Blue Knights, WV Patriot Riders, and FOP Law Enforcement Detail.
